Who is Dave Winer?
I wasn’t there, and it seems like its become a BlogWar now, but seriously, who is this guy, and why are we fighting over his ill-informed rants? Maybe at 27 even I am too young to remember when he was allegedly wise and forward-thinking, instead of being the joke behind the Winer Number (linked to me by someone with a Winer Number of 0.03 who shall remain anonymous).
This is the part where I could go on a long rant about all of the BS he’s spouted, but to what end? I could also point out that Blake has long since moved from working on Firefox itself to helping the marketing end and building his startup, and really shouldn’t be expected to talk about what we’re doing next, and certainly is not the one to take to task for any perceived flaws in how we’re currently doing things. Informed critiques on how we’re making information available are absolutely welcomed.
As Blake pointed out, there’s a ton of ways to get info on what’s going on (maybe too many ways, but that’s a separate issue), if you’re even marginally interested. If people want to get involved, the ways to do so are fairly well documented (even if the code itself isn’t). We’re not going to go on bended knee to anyone, but if someone wants to jump on board and start rowing, there are plenty of ways, and smart and committed people are always welcome.
